Step by step

Make a backup of the original file and work from a copy.

Use one header row and one person per row, with phone numbers and emails in consistent formats.

Create any required custom fields before starting the import.

Upload the CSV, map every important column and select the correct duplicate-handling option.

Import a small sample first, review the resulting records, then process the remaining rows.

- Never use a tag as a substitute for a permanent data field.
- Keep the original source and consent date when available.
- Do not import unsubscribed people as marketable contacts.
